Jakarta Animal Aid Network (JAAN) is dedicated to improving the welfare of animals in Indonesia. JAAN was founded by Karin Franken, Femke den Haas and Natalie Stewart in February 2008. JAAN operates 5 rehabilitation and release centers located all over Indonesia. We rescue wildlife and campaign to shut down the illegal trade in wild animals. Jaan also rescues abandoned and abused dogs and provides medical treatment for them while searching for adoptive homes. JAAN also runs a Trap/Neuter/Release program for the millions of stray cats in Jakarta and other areas of Indonesia.

JAAN successfully campaigned to make Dancing Monkeys illegal in Jakarta and we continue our dialogues with the Indonesian government encouraging it to pass laws against owning any primate as a pet. Wild animals belong in the wild and no animal should live in a cage or be chained, isolated, neglected or abused. JAAN focuses on enhancing awareness of animal welfare issues through education programs at schools and through our active social media avenues.
